Skin types. Do you know yours?
Skin TYPE is the skin we are born with. It's what we've been given in our genetic makeup. Let's not confuse it with the CONDITION of the skin. Understanding your skin type is critical to determining an appropriate skin care routine and choosing the products that best suit your skin's needs.
- Normal skin - has the right ratio of sebum and moisturizing substances. Pore size is not a problem and skin texture is good
- Oily skin - usually prone to excessive sebum production, the skin looks shiny and has visibly larger pores. Blackheads (comedones) are common
- Dry skin - usually has a lower production of skin sebum, it also suffers from a lack of emollients such as triglycerides, waxes and squalane (simply speaking, it lacks oils). The result is usually a broken skin barrier. The skin feels tight and looks dull
- Combination skin - a mixture of two skin types. It represents the oilier T-zone (forehead, nose and chin) and the drier part on the cheeks. It is currently the most widespread skin type
- Sensitive skin - is a category by itself. There is something between skin type and condition, as the cause can be genetics or lifestyle. It is more reactive to various environmental factors and cosmetic products. Redness, itching or stinging may occur when exposed to certain ingredients or harsh external conditions
